Evaluation of Ariel’s Piston Rod Packing – Ariel Compressors

Evaluation of Ariel’s Piston Rod Packing – Ariel Compressors

This project report evaluates the long-term performance of Ariel Compressor’s technology, as installed in existing compressors. The testing was conducted at the NGIF Emissions Testing Centre Program field host, Tourmaline’s Horse Gas Plant, located north of Hinton, Alberta. The Gas Plant has 8 identical compressors. Three (3) compressors remain on standard Ariel packing. Five (5) compressors have been converted to Ariel’s technology during scheduled overhauls from April through July 2024.

Preliminary results demonstrate that the technology performs 33% to 84% better than standard Ariel packing as it pertains to reducing methane emissions.

At NGIF, we invest in companies who are leading in the development of clean technologies for energy and who have the potential to demonstrate significant and quantifiable environmental and economic returns.
